Frequent Questions for Toilet Seat Importers: HS Codes, Material & Care

Sourcing sanitary ware involves navigating technical specifications, customs data, and end-user maintenance questions. To assist our global partners, Fujian Chuangshi Sanitary Co., Ltd. has compiled this comprehensive FAQ guide covering the most common inquiries we receive from importers and retailers.

Import & Logistics Questions

What is the HS Code for Toilet Seats?

Correctly classifying your goods is crucial for customs clearance and calculating duties.

  • Plastic Toilet Seats (PP, Duroplast/Urea):

    • HS Code: 3922.20.00 (Lavatory seats and covers of plastics).

  • Wooden Toilet Seats (MDF, Solid Wood, Bamboo):

    • HS Code: 4421.99.90 (Other articles of wood).

    • Note: Some regions may classify MDF under different sub-headings. Always double-check with your local customs broker.

What is the difference between “Top Fixing” and “Bottom Fixing”?

  • Bottom Fixing: The traditional method where bolts are tightened from underneath the ceramic bowl. Requires an accessible open back.

  • Top Fixing (Blind Hole): Used for modern “Wall-Hung” or “Back-to-Wall” toilets where the underside is inaccessible. An expanding toggle is inserted from the top to anchor the seat.

  • Chuangshi Tip: We can provide Universal Kits containing both hardware types to reduce retail returns.

What is the standard MOQ for OEM orders?

For customized products (e.g., printed MDF or custom color packaging), our standard Minimum Order Quantity is 500 pieces per model. For standard white models, we can often accommodate lower quantities if combined with other orders.

Material & Technical Questions

What is the difference between PP, Urea (Duroplast), and MDF?

  • PP (Polypropylene): Lightweight, flexible plastic. The budget-friendly option (“Entry Level”).

  • MDF (Molded Wood): Made from wood flour and resin. Heavy, warm to the touch, and feels like ceramic. Ideally suited for high-resolution printing. (“Mid-Range”).

  • Urea (Duroplast/UF): Scratch-resistant, UV-stable, and very hard. It looks exactly like ceramic and is naturally antibacterial. (“High-End”).

Do your Bamboo seats mold in humid bathrooms?

No. All Chuangshi bamboo products undergo a Carbonization Process (steaming at 200°C) to remove sugars that attract mold. They are then sealed with 3 coats of waterproof primer and 2 coats of PU topcoat.

How do I measure a toilet seat to ensure it fits?

Retailers should educate consumers on the 3 key dimensions:

  1. Length: From the center of the fixing holes to the front edge.

  2. Width: The widest point of the seat.

  3. Hinge Distance: The distance between the two fixing holes (Standard is 155mm, but our hinges are adjustable from 110mm to 200mm).

Maintenance & Care (End-User Guide)

Providing this info helps you reduce warranty claims.

How should I clean a wooden/MDF toilet seat?

DO NOT use abrasive chemicals, bleach, or aerosol cleaners, as they can strip the waterproof coating.

  • Recommendation: Clean with mild soap and warm water only. Wipe dry immediately with a soft cloth.

Why is my Soft-Close seat closing too slowly/quickly?

Soft-close dampers are temperature sensitive. They may close slightly slower in winter and faster in summer. This is normal. However, forcing the seat down manually will break the damper mechanism and void the warranty.
